AOL 9 and Kaspersky 7 - Slow Browsing Issue

If you find that AOL browsing slows down after installing Kaspersy 6 or 7 you can use the following method to fix it. After much seraching on the internet it took me ages to find this solution but I can confirm that it works.

Concerning to:
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0
Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 MP2
Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 MP2

Issue:
After installation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 MP2\ Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 MP2 and active client AOL9, the Internet speed might slow down. To resolve the problem, you should add the executable file of the client AOL9 to the trusted zone of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 MP2\ Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 MP2, and in the component Web Anti-Virus change the algorithm to scan the traffic from Use buffering scan to Use streaming scan.

Fix:

  • open the application main window
  • go to Settings
  • in the left part of the Settings window click the Web Anti-Virus component
  • in the right part of the window click the Customize button
  • in the section Scan method activate the option Use streaming scan
  • click the OK button
  • in the left part of the Settings window click Protection (for version 7 - click on Threats and Exclusions to get to Trusted Zone)
  • in the right part of the window click the button Trusted zone
  • go to the Trusted applications tab
  • click the Add button
  • in the Trusted application window click Browse > Browse
    open the directory C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL
    highlight the file aoltpspd.exe
  • click Open
  • in the Trusted application window uncheck Do not scan opened files
  • activate the option Do not scan network traffic
  • click OK in each window to accept the changes
  • minimize the main application window
